What is Fire Safe Sonoma?

The most effective deterrents to tragic loss of life and property in the event of a wildfire are education and preparation. Recognizing the urgency of fire safety, a group of concerned individuals, comprised of fire protection professionals, representatives of community groups, homeowners and other stakeholders formed a non-profit group 501(c)(3) called Fire Safe Sonoma.

The primary purposes of this group are to educate, exchange information, foster fire prevention and fire safety practices, promote vegetation reduction projects, obtain grants, support local fire agency efforts and involve everyone who works, lives or plays in our rural areas.

What you can do now.....

  • Learn about fire safety practices and share with your neighbors
  • Design and maintain a defensible space around your home and adjacent roads
  • Use fire resistant native trees and shrubs
  • Post your address clearly and visibily for emergency responders
  • Support your local fire department
  • Come to Fire Safe Sonoma meetings and get involved.

If you have information regarding a suspicious fire please call the Anonymous CDF Arson Hotline at 1-800-468-4408

You CAN make a difference!

Fire Safe Sonoma wishes to acknowledge the generous support that made the printing of our publication, Living with Fire in Sonoma County, possible.
