Fire Safe Sonoma recently applied for a grant to create a Community Wildfire Protection Plan serving approximately 257 residences along are located in the project area with an estimated population of 600 people along Mill Creek Road in the Healdsburg area.
Marshal Tuberville, a Fire Safe Sonoma Board Member, is championing this grant.
The project will develop a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for the Mill Creek Road community through a collaborative process with community members and public safety agencies.
The CWPP development process typically identifies wildfire risk first, and then identifies, develops, and prioritizes mitigation efforts. This the project will be similar to the other CWPP projects spearheaded by Fire Safe Sonoma, and will utilize a tried and true process used in other communities to increase public safety awareness, fire prevention, safety education, and build consensus for community-supported mitigation projects.
