Fountain Grove Vegetation Management Project

The Fountaingrove Master Ranch Association recently embarked on a fuel management program which is designed to reduce the potential for catastrophic fire in their community. The following pictures show the conditions prior to, and after, completion of fuel reduction work, on the first of several proposed projects.

This photo depicts the conditions prior to the completion of fuel management work. Note the heavy overgrowth of brush into the canopy of the barely visible Oak trees. This is a classic example of "ladder fuels" and conditions which could lead to a catastrophic fire scenario.

Before and After

This is an excellent view of the results of careful fuel management. With the excessive brush removed and trees properly limbed up, a fire in this area would now pose minimal risk to life, property, or the mature vegetation. NOTE: Prior to the completion of work, the base of the Oaks and structures were completely obscured by brush.
